WHALES IN LONDON

 

In October 2019, a humpback whale, nicknamed Hessy, was sighted in the Thames. This was not the first time, however, that a whale has been seen in the Thames, And it probably won't be the last.

2006

 

In January 2006, a juvenile bottlenose whale was spotted in the Thames in central London. Tragically, the very next day, the whale died during the course of rescue attempts.

2018

 

Benny, a beluga whale, was seen in the Thames.He was first spotted on September 25th near Coalhouse Fort, Essex as he headed inland towards London. There were many sightings over the next weeks and, in fact, it is not thought that he made it out to sea until January 2019.
